I have one of the newer kits and the area for the capacitors is doubled almost like it was designed for two capacitors? I tried to find this at QRP labs website but I didn't see it. Could you provide some guidance?

The new RTL SDR V4 has a built-in up-converter that works great. Got mine last week and really enjoying it. Much better than the V3 I've had for years. Also, it has easily installed drivers for Linux, which is all I use.

I have this having purchased a bundle with hamapps installed and the upgraded kit with the 4-port USB 2.0 hub and dual band WiFi 5 (802.11ac) plus Bluetooth 4.2 USB adapter and it was >$50USD plus shipping. I also have the stand and a usb fan for it. This is one cool rig. The new PS that is supplied with the Quadra is said to be of low noise characteristics.

I know this is about a year old. Inovato has this with a lot of the software all loaded on it! There was a video telling about this and they are having trouble keeping up with the orders. 73 W4DES

Hey Budd, I looked through your channel and couldn’t find it, what antenna are you using for SDR? Is the adapter you’re using just to convert your HAM antenna for use here or is it a separate antenna? Thank you and hilarious find!!!

Went though my box of stuff and found the adafruit headers. much higher quality. Would rather pay another couple of dollars for a kit than deal with the headers you included. The rest of the kit was very well done. great instructions, quality parts.

my kit did not come with an alignment bar and the pins are absolutely wonky. Almost willing to throw out the $100 rather than the frustration of 80 pins that are unaligned. Not worth raising my blood pressure over this.

what is the purpose of making custom pcb? i do understand when you feel like you got a great product that many others can benefit with. but for one-shot projects it is a huge overkill unless you're suffering that illness when everything's got to be perfect. or you're benefiting from making others to do that stupid thing.

Thanks for the great story, my favorite experience listening to 40 meter usually involve a VOX that was left on. Turns out that on a world wide basis that happens a lot. My personal favorite was a husband and wife bickering over who's going to the store for beer.

I have the same radio. I permanently glued the USB end to the adapter and used a label maker to print a yellow "12V" label and affixed it to the adapter.

There are some strange countries in the world who shoot down balloons from the sky.

I prefer EasyEDA for PCB-Layouts, because it is really easy going to get professional looking PCBs. I also use it for my breadboard designs. For me it is better to start with the schematic and push the parts to their positions to get a good wireing. In case I just need one or two PCBs with just a few nets (and this is in most cases) I use dot grid protoboards and I do the wireing by use of tin coated copper wire. I don't like to wait weeks for my PCBs.

I notice your time on your AREDN node is the same as mine, April 22, 2022? Any idea why? I can't see where to get the time updated. This is on my TPLink CPE210. My GL.iNet AR750, also AREDN, has the correct time.
